Help!

I'm working on an apron for my friend's daughter. She (the daughter, not the friend) is 5 years old and loves all things pink. We decided on this colaboration because my friend recently had her 4th baby (who is by all accounts extremely adorable) and thus has no time to sew, and because I couldn't stand idly by while someone I know buys a child's apron from a ritzy store (which didn't stop me from buying two birds - BIRDS, of all things, but let's talk about that some other time, hmkay?).
Here's the apron I talked her out of buying:

Now this is my problem. We discussed adding a cute design on the front of the apron, and I thought it would be really cute to have flowers "growing out of" the pocket. Since I needed something playful and inspiring to do today, I worked on the design of the flowers. Now I have too many ideas.

All buttons? Ric-rac and buttons? Fabric and buttons? Fabric, ric-rac, and buttons? HELP ME!!!
There will be three flowers (the fourth one here is only representing the 4th possible design). You have to (HAVE TO!) vote on the following:
1. design
2. petal colors (do we like the green-yellow?)
3. center color (if you choose the design with the button center)
FYI: My friend chose the fabrics. The pocket will be pink (just like the trim you see in the first picture and the center of the fabric center flowers). I wouldn't be devastated if I didn't have to sew on three million buttons. Just sayin'.
Here are your contestants:
ALL BUTTONS
button stem, button center, button petals
BUTTONS & RIC-RAC
ric-rac stem, button center, button petals
BUTTONS & FABRIC
button stem, fabric center, button petals
BUTTONS, FABRIC, RIC-RAC
ric-rac stem, fabric center, button petals

Why do we do this to ourselves????? I say ric rac stem. Let's not be stupid with the buttons (just 'cuz they're a pain and I love th ric rac).
I like the yellowy button petals.
Now I forget what else I was to vote on.
Ric rac for sure!! (buttons are cute, but much more time consuming and not worth the extra effort)

I'm thinking I ought to use the ric-rac since I bought it especially for this project. ;)
What about the centers - fabric or a big button?

I agree with Karyn. Rick Rack stem. I can't decide between button or fabric center.

They are all so cute that you have made it hard to decide.

Although all the choices are adorable - I vote for the button flowers with the rick-rack stem. This apron is going to be adorable! She will love it! Make sure you show us a picture of the final product!

I agree, ric rac stem and maybe button center (maybe fabric if you get tired). You probably already thought of this but when I did a big button design project I used a tiny dab of fabric glue (not in the hole area) to tack down all the buttons and then sewed them on without tying off the thread between each button. Saved a ton of time and kept the design organized. Have fun.

I like the ric rac myself and a big button for the middle. Hope you can solve this for your friend. Its going to be gorgeous either way for the little one. Have fun with it.

OK, I'm the only one, but I love the fabric center with pink buttons around. So I take possibility no. 4 :o)
In the area of the pocket: as little buttons as possible ... it's a 5 Year old Kid!!!

Has nobody brought up the issue of buttons and babies? I mean, if your friend isn't worried then go with God. But if it were me and I had a new baby, all I would be picturing is baby stuffing buttons down his or her gullet.

All button issues aside, I like the ric rac stem.

I like the ric-rac stem, but I like the flower parts of the flower with the all buttons.
