mystery mail from Natasha

I've been busy with Project Sewing Room Remodel/Reorganize (almost done!), and in the midst of all that crazy stuff I've forgotten to post pictures of the wonderful packet I got in the mail from Natasha over at Rick-Rack and Ribbons.
Natasha had a giveaway for her 50th post, and I was one of the winners! I got a package with a bunch of buttons (in a really cute little envelope), some very cute fat quarters (oh, am I ever a sucker for fat quarters!), and a whole lot of trim (I'm especially fond of the little roses).

Winning is fun, my friends. I highly recommend it! :)

Zip Quilt Kit

Melissa over at Under Construction has come up with a wonderful little doll quilt kit, designed for people who have never quilted (or sewn) before but would like to give it a try. I was one of the lucky "guinea pigs" to get to try out her pattern.
It was a fun, quick sew - exactly what I needed to unclog my creative flow (there have just been too many large projects lately).

Doesn't she have a great eye for colors? I would have never put the torquoise/blue with those greens, but it totally works!

I decided on a random layout, and it took me forever to make it look random. Ironic.

I had never tied a quilt before, and Melissa's instuctions worked beautifully.

Amy the bear would like to thank Melissa. Finally, she has a lovey and doesn't need to be afraid of the dark anymore.

flickr love

My latest fascinations are groups on flickr. I ACCIDENTALLY clicked on the "groups" drop-down menu and found out that you can search for groups. So I searched for "fat quarters" and found... the Fat Quarter Challenge (see button in sidebar). Next, I added my chickens to the Chicken Art pool and my headband to the Hooray for Headbands pool.
To go with my two blogs, I also have two flickr accounts (well, I actually have three, but never you mind!). For my Other Account, I found a Death Valley group where I could add my snapshots from last year's trip and just now, I found an IKEA lovers group.
My favorite thing about flickr groups is finding new blogs - the two lovely ladies who are behind the Fat Quarter Challenge, this fellow chicken artist, and this new girl crush of mine who is a fellow IKEA lover.

PS: If you don't have a flickr account yet, you should just right now get yourself one. It's fun and free and once you sign up, you can comment on my pictures - what's not to love?!!
