I got to pick up my sewing machine from the shop this morning - no new parts needed and only a "minor repair," which made it much less expensive than it could have been.
Next project: Two more burp cloths and a manly sling for papa to carry baby. Let's see if I can get the sling done by father's day!

Welcome to my land, the Nation of Procrasti
So, I've finally done it. The curtains are up.
I totally cheated. After deciding several times over the last 3 weeks that today would be the day, that I'd go home early to sew those creativity-sucking curtains, and NOT GETTING AROUND TO IT because there's so much work to do and I'm just exhausted at the end of every day, I went to Target on Friday. And bought curtain rods and curtains and called it a day.
Of course, there was a trip to another Target to pick up more brown curtains (the first Target only had ONE panel left) and a trip to Home Depot to pick up cheap curtain rod brackets because the pretty ones that came with the curtain rods stuck out from the wall too far and I wouldn't have been able to open the closet had we used them (the house is clearly out to annoy me).
At any rate, the curtains are up, they look fab, they will go with the Big Quilt, and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, I AM ALLOWED TO CRAFT AGAIN!!!
I've cut out most of the pieces for the two Americana baby quilts. Yesssssss!

the stupid thing I did
Okay, so the Stupid Thing I Did is that one morning about two or three weeks ago, I shook my husband's hand after agreeing to not sew anything else before finishing the evil bedroom curtains (His Royal Highness of Muchwork but Tooshort and his companion, Not Evenstartedyet). I can only blame the earliness of the hour and the jetlag that had me in its dark and evil grip.
No Big Quilt.
No hemming of pants.
No baby quilt making (due dates I need to craft for are in December, January, and February).
Nothing. Just curtain-related non-craftiness.
*sigh*
I wonder how long I'll put it off. We'll officially have lived here for one year on September 23rd.

How busy have I been?
I've been so busy that I not only let a 40% JoAnne's coupon expire (THE HORRORS!), no, I also missed a perfectly good 99cent fat quarter sale last weekend.
At least my first day of fifth grade went well (and I'll totally blog about it in, say, a month, right after the next time I'll sleep).
Cliffhanger: I've done something really stupid (it's craft-related). Rash and not very well thought-through and plain NOT SMART. I'll tell you next time.

anvil fall on your head yet?
(It is Friday the 13th, after all!)
I could go on and on about the interview I had this morning, but I'll just boil it down to this:
When he walked me out, the pastor told me "B. will call you on Monday. I imagine that she will ask you when you can come in to sign a contract."
And then my head exploded, but when it grew back, it was STILL REAL.
Now? I'm focusing real hard on not treating this as a 100% sure thing. But on Monday? Once I SIGN THAT CONTRACT? There will be much rejoicing and celebratory eating of ice cream.

absent
It's amazing to me how much working cuts into my blogging time!
Now, seriously. I'm working (for three days) as a temp doing data entry, and I'm really not used to working 8-5. On top of that, I'm recovering from a busy weekend with little sleep, and after staring at not one but two computer screens at the office all day, I'm in no condition to blog or read blogs when I get home. I'll delight you again with my presence on Thursday or Friday - and then I'll catch up on your blogs, too!
Have a happy week!
