gift for baby Landon

And here's what I was sewing last night! Inspired by all the little outfits Lera has been making for Sawyer...
I didn't realize, of course, that my fabric was directional, which made the whole thing a bit more fabric-consuming than expected (I just so had enough fabric).
Now, people, I need y'all to look at the bib close-up picture on flickr and tell me if there's a way to make the bias tape hug corners better. I'm frustrated with how many folds I had to sew into the bias tape, but I didn't have the time (or energy) to undo and try again or to undo and go without bias tape.
I had initially planned to make the bib with the animal fabric on the front and a big appliqued "L" on it, but then I ran into fabric-matching issues, and then I realized that it would be too much (way too much, as a matter of fact) to have the kid wear the animal pants and the bib at the same time (dizzying!)
Allrighty. I'm rambling. I better go make those cookies and cupcakes and whatnot. See you on the flip-flop!

seriously we apparently need to go shopping together--I also have this fabric just waiting for someone to have a baby boy! Did you use a pattern for the shorts?

As for the bias tape, I've stopped using bias tape on bibs I think and instead sew inside out and turn and top stitch. Much smoother results.

Darling! Landon is one lucky baby.

I, too, don't use bias tape on bibs. I sew them right sides together and then topstitch. The bias is very cute though. I haven't checked out flickr yet, but from this photo is looks perfect.

I know nothing about sewing but that is one cute outfit. I hope his mommy enjoys putting him in that outfit as much as you enjoyed making it. I love it.

very very cute! I finally have an official sewing corner at our new house, so I am going to be copying you (I mean, err, using you for inspiration) more often!

How did you add the circle of fabric to the onesie?

and others have said it already, but I am a HUGE fan of the inside-out sewing instead of hemming or bias tape. Then again, I'm a lazy beyotch ;)

That animal fabric is toooooo cute! And I think on tight curves narrower bias tape can look better and turn easier, but it is also easier to miss the back side entirely.
